WHY JESUS? The Christ

It’s a question that demands answers. Why Jesus?

He wrote nothing.  He owned nothing.  His entire life was invested in His message, which He left in lives- not in books.  That message was simple, yet profound, powerful, and life transforming.  On one of His trips, He came into Galilee and announces:  “All the preliminaries have been takes care of, and the rule of God is now accessible to everyone.  Review your plans for living and base your life on this remarkable new opportunity.” That opportunity?  A life built on Him and His teaching.  Living at the ultimate level.  The question is:  When was the last time you felt your life was at its peak?

"Why Jesus?"

“He said to them, ‘But who do you [yourselves] say that I am?’ Simon Peter replied, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’” Matthew 16:15-16 (AMPC)

Imagine being so consumed by a truth that your whole life is totally and completely transformed.

This truth, realized and experienced, would cause unspeakable power, ability, capability, favor, wisdom and knowledge to flood your life.

Endurance, patience, joy, gladness, would provoke you to live with a sense of gratitude, thankfulness and generosity bringing influence and blessing to you and to others.

Actually, all this and much more is readily available to anyone who is willing to simply surrender their life totally, completely to Christ.

You can be targeted by God to receive His anointing.

“I’ve written to warn you about those who are trying to deceive you. But they’re no match for what is embedded deeply within you—Christ’s anointing, no less! You don’t need any of their so-called teaching. Christ’s anointing teaches you the truth on everything you need to
know about yourself and him, uncontaminated by a single lie. Live deeply in what you were taught.”

I John 2:26-27 (MSG)

This anointing brings life, illumination, wisdom, fruit and power from the indwelling Christ.

"But you have been anointed by [you hold a sacred appointment from, you have been given an unction from] the Holy One, and you all know [the Truth]…" I John 2:20 (AMPC)

Christ, Messiah literally means the Anointed One and His anointed.

To what and for what are we anointed? His anointing equips us, empowers us to live a Christian life.

Our Christian life is an “outflow” of Christ in you – the manifesting of His uncreated life, the radiating of God’s own energy within and through our fallen, human vessels.

Christ is your shepherd, your advocate, your mediator, your conqueror, your lion, your lamb, your sacrifice, your manna, your living water, your food, your dwelling place, your Sabbath, your jubilee, your feast, your aroma, your anchor, your wisdom, your peace, your comfort, your healer, your joy, your glory, your power, your strength, your wealth, your victory,
your redeemer, your prophet, your priest, your king, your teacher, your guide, your deliverer, your prince, your captain, your vision, your beloved, your way, your truth, your life, your author, your finisher, your beginning, your end, your now, your eternity.

We are to be of Christ, through Christ and for Christ. He is our pursuit, our passion and our pleasure.  He is Christ in you, the Hope of (realizing the) glory.

You and I are to proclaim Christ, to make Him known by public declaration. We are to “admonish” – to impart understanding. Literally, to educate toward correction.
We are to teach, instruct. The goal – to present every person mature (full-grown, fully initiated, complete) in Christ.

Discussion Questions:
1. Who is Jesus Christ to you?

2. Are you proclaiming Christ and making him known to those you come in contact with?

3. Are you present yourself mature (full grown, fully initiated, complete) in Christ?

4. Have you prepared yourself to receive His anointing?

Prayer Focus:
Pray that you will have His anointing to equip and empower you to live a Christian life.

Next Steps:
Use His anointing to proclaim Christ this week by handing out the "Why Jesus?" invite cards and praying the salvation prayer with someone.

Attend first Wednesday prayer at 6pm at theChurch so we can pray together for God to make Himself known to our region.
